About Coach Weachter...
Jeff Weachter has coached high school football for 23 seasons. Five of those seasons were spent at his alma mater, Warwick High School, Lititz, PA as a defensive coordinator. He was then hired as head football coach at Lebanon Catholic H.S. where he took over a winless program and lead the way to the school’s first back-to-back winning seasons in twenty years. “Coach Wec” as his players call him, has been the head football coach at Bishop McDevitt High School of Harrisburg, PA for the past nine seasons. In 2001, the team finished 9-1 and was ranked 8th in the state by the Patriot News. In that same year, he was named Sportsfever’s District 3 Coach of the Year. In 2004, he coached the team to the school’s first AAAA District 3/6 Championship. In addition to capturing the District Gold in ’04, McDevitt finished 4th in the state of PA. In 2005, Jeff’s Crusaders grabbed another District Title and were ranked #2 in the State and #24 in the nation by USA Today.
At McDevitt, Coach Wec has coached over 30 players who have received Division I scholarships to play NCAA football and 15 who played in the Big 33. In 2005, Jeff was named Schutt Sports East Coast Region High School Coach of the Year. Jeff has sent nine players to the Big 33 Football Classic and has three players currently in the NFL, LeSean McCoy of the Philadelphia Eagles, Jaimie Thomas of the Indianapolis Colts, and Aaron Berry of the Detroit Lions. Jeff has coached at numerous Division I football camps including Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and Penn State. In the spring of 2005 he was a guest speaker at the Notre Dame Coaching Clinic and in 2006 spoke at Army’s Coaching Clinic at West Point.
Milestone: Coach Weachter received his 100th career victory during the 2008 season (playoff game vs. Red Lion).
Jeff is a member of the faculty at Bishop McDevitt where he teaches Business and Physical Education. Jeff was born in Lancaster, PA and currently resides in Penryn with his wife and three children.
