post game comments, CV preview coming soon... Gateway thoughts...CD preview 09/06/2010
It was a good win against Gateway; our defense played very well. We had a few mistakes in coverage (technique errors), we will get that cleaned up this week. Offensively, we hung in there against a very good defense. Gateway was very fast and physical! One of the things we need to do when we have such good field position is to convert touchdowns rather than field goals, though Conner Maloney did a great job kicking. We need to get the passing game sharper--that starts with protection. We need to do a better job of pass protection and the receivers need to understand the concept of the route. We hope to get that taken care of this week. Up next... CD RAMS: CD has very good size on both sides of the ball. Their lines are led by Pitt recruit Artie Rowell. We have to come out and play well to compete against them. They will be tough, no doubt. Game is at CD's Landis Field, Friday September 10th at 7pm. Mcd shuts out Gateway 23-0! 09/04/2010

Players worked very hard this off-season during our voluntary spring workouts in May. During our summer workouts, we were able to install most of our offense and defense. We also had the opportunity over the summer to take a week to work on our first three opponents. Two-a-days: the past 2 weeks have been very productive. It was a very physical camp which was necessary because of the inexperience of the team. First scrimmage against E-Town: Coaches were very happy with O-Line and run game...the passing game, with the youth of our receivers needed some work and the coaches were not satisfied with the play of the defense: we needed to be more physical. During the second week of two-a-days, the coaches and team worked very hard on what we saw that needed improvement from the E-Town scrimmage. The second scrimmage against Manheim Township was a one half of a game, and I thought we improved on what we needed from the prior scrimmage. I thought on offense, the passing game was a lot sharper, the run game was good as proven by our long drive on the first possession. The only negative was that we needed to be better on pass protection. Defensively, we were very pleased in all phases. There was great improvement from the E-Town scrimmage. The defensive staff saw good improvement in shedding blockers and being physical. Up next: Gateway...some thoughts...This Saturday we welcome a Nationally recognized program, the Gateway Gators. The last few years, they've mirrored the McD football program with being state-ranked while sending a number of players to the Division I college level and the NFL. Gateway possesses size and speed on both sides of the ball and are very well coached. Offensively they are led by sophomore QB Thomas Woodson along with very good skill position players and a big line led by returning starter, center Jason Crystol. Gateway returns 6 starters on defense led by senior DE Sascha Craig who led the WPIAL in sacks last year, and pre-season All-American LB Armstead Williams who possesses a high # of DI scholarship offers. We are excited and honored to play such a great team and we look forward to the challenge! See you at McD field Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at high noon! First Post! 06/20/2010
